Eyelash extention aftercare
Proper care and maintenance of your new eyelash extensions will ensure that they remain as beautiful and luscious as they are today!
Guidelines for the First 24-48 Hours
*Do not work out or participate in any activities that cause you to sweat.
*Avoid showering during the first 24-48 hours.
*In the morning, use a lash brush to gently separate and groom your lash extensions.
*Do not use oil-based products of any kind, on or near your eyes. Use an oil-free makeup remover only.
*Recommended to sleep on your side with silk/satin pillowcases, not on your stomach.*Avoid exposing your lash extensions to water, heat sauna and friction.
*Do not apply any eye cosmetics or skincare products to your lashes or eyelids.
Guidelines After 48 Hours
*Keep sauna, steam room and tanning visits to a minimum as the application of heat and moisture weakens the adhesive bond resulting in premature shedding.
*Use oil-free makeup remover only.
*Avoid using oil based skin care products on or near your lash extensions.
*Avoid using waterproof cosmetic products on or near your lash extensions
Can I wear mascara with my eyelash extensions?
In most cases, you won't need to wear mascara with your eyelash extensions, since they do give the look of already having mascara on! However, as your own lashes fall out toward the end of your pre-fill period, you may want to add a little mascara to your own natural lashes to make them match. In this case, ONLY wear water-based mascara (like Mabelline pink & green bottle or other), and do not wear waterproof mascara as this may damage the bond of the eyelash extensions.
What if I have really sensitive eyes?
Sometimes clients exhibit certain characteristics which means they are not the best candidate to receive or keep eyelash extensions. One thing we're happy to do is to perform a sample application. or a sort of "patch test" for no charge! Yep. If you think you may be one of these unlucky clients, just let us know and we'll do a test to see how they fair on you. When we do the test, we'll apply 3-6 lashes on each corner of eye and you'll go home like that. If you have no adverse reactions, we can move forward to apply the whole set in your next appointment.
WAXING
Does Waxing Hurt?
The million-dollar question, “does waxing hurt?" Everyone has a different scale for pain tolerance and what is painful for someone may not bother someone else. However, both our wax and our process work together to offer you the most comfortable service possible. If you’re still worried about managing sensitivity, we recommend taking an ibuprofen or aspirin roughly 30 minutes before your appointment to help maximize your comfort.
Pro-tip: waxing more frequently will help with sensitivy as hair grows back finer and sparser!
How Long Can I Expect My Wax to Last? The beauty of waxing is knowing you’ll be hair-free for a minimum of 1-2 weeks following your wax appointment.
Will My Hair Grow Back Thicker or Darker?Your hair won’t grow back thicker and darker after waxing, just the opposite! Hair that is removed at the root grows back softer and finer over time.
Before your appointment
Your hair has to be at least 1/4-inch long, or around the size of a grain of rice, before you wax. This helps ensure that hair is completely removed from the root. If this is your first time waxing, try to grow out hair from your most previous hair removal for around 2 weeks
Exfoliate skin
A day or two before you wax, gently exfoliate with a mild scrub, brush, mitt, or loofah to remove dead skin cells that surround the hair follicles.
Exfoliating helps loosen existing ingrown hairs and improves your waxing results. Just make sure to be gentle — if you scrub too hard you could irritate your skin, which isn’t ideal for waxing.
Aftercare
Please follow the guidelines below to ensure your skin is cared for properly over the next few days.
Please note: some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These symptoms should subside over the next 24 - 48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 - 48 hours.
This means:
No hot baths or showers (cool to lukewarm water only).
No saunas, hot tubs, massage or steam treatments.
No tanning (sunbathing, sun beds or fake tans).
No sport, gym work or other exercise.
Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed
hands.
Wear clean, loose fitting clothes.
Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools.
Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or
other products to the area, other than those recommended by
your therapist.
To soothe and protect the skin, apply an antiseptic cream to the waxed area regularly for 3 days following your treatment. Always wash your hands before applying any product. To prevent ingrown hairs: starting a few days after your appointment and then continuing a couple of times every week, exfoliate the areas you get waxed using a dry brush or exfoliating mitt. Take the brush and just before you step into the bath or shower gently brush the area you get waxed whilst your skin and the brush is dry.
After you’ve bathed/showered, apply some baby oil to the waxed area.
Moisturize every day to keep the skin supple and help new hairs to grow through normally. Don’t exfoliate too much or too rough as this can graze the skin and cause ingrown hairs.
You may notice a small amount of re growth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives best results.
You will need at least 3-4 weeks growth of hair before it can be successfully removed by waxing;
Please do not shave between your appointments.
To maintain your smooth appearance, I recommend regular waxing every 4-6 weeks
